[KL] Broken K2500R battery holder

I just picked up a K2500R that was advertised as needing a new battery - needless to say, after investigating, it turns out that the plastic surrounding the battery cap is *missing* somehow, and there's a short to the chassis ground :(


I can probably jury rig something with duct tape, but does anyone either have the part number (I can't seem to see it in the online service manuals) or have a spare?

The best bet for a replacement is to contact Alex Goetsman and see if he has a spare from the rack. It's important to specify the rack module, because it has an inline tube where the keyboard has a side-by-side box with a door.

If he doesn't have one (and I'd be very surprised if he didn't) and you need the unit, you can just purchase a standard 3-AA box, clip the existing leads, solder/heat wrap/tape the wires and attach it to the inside of the case with some gaffer's tape as a temporary measure. It'll probably last you a year or more, giving you ample time to find a replacement.

Check the battery connector that plugs into J10 on the main audio/power board for corrosion. I once encountered one that had batteries so corroded it traveled down the ground and started corroding the connector; liked to never have gotten that off. Deoxit and a little burnish with the Dremmel wire brush and it was good as new...

Looks like Mouser has 44 in stock today for ~$1 less than the digi-key part.

I only know this because I just finished getting some Spox connectors to make up some internal cables and some components to rebuild a K2600 power supply.

i have one of the K2 series in rack, and yes, there's a trick to gettin the damn batteries out of the unit if in a large heavy rack and can't be tilted..put tape on a screwdriver carefully, and/or use a magnetized screwdriver to coax (or is that Co-ax?) them out
