[KL] KHP101 Hybrid Acoustic Electric Piano

Hi guys,

I'm seeing one of these for sale on Offer Up. They said its in great condition, would sell it for $850 after paying about $5,000 8 years back at Sam Ash.

I can't find any info about it on Kurzweils website.

You guys know anything about these? Kurzweil KHP101

Are they any good? Is this a good buy?

make sure everything works..take the time to go thru all menusALSO very important..clanky thud on note up? the little rubber bumpers that quiet the release are VERY expensive to replace.a keybed should be QUIET..used instruments often are not.

The hybrids was made from a Young Chang piano, but missing the strings, harp and sound board. It has a piano action, wood keys, jacks, hammers, felt key guides and all the adjustment of a piano action. It has a shutter style key sensing assembly that outputs midi to a low end sound module with amp and speakers. It has MIDI out, which is the best feature!

It is more like a piano, except the hammers thud on a felt strip instead of strings, It has a headphone jack, so one can practice without disturbing others. There will still be dampener clucks and action noises.


No tuning, but action and electronics might require some service eventually. The electronics items are probably not available from either Young Chang or Kurzweil. Piano action parts are all most likely available.
