Without question, the SCSI2SD (v5 or v6) is the way to go.

First, these draw power from the SCSI bus so you don't have to find (or have someone build) the rare Molex to SPOX power connector.

Second, they've long since stopped making 9Gb SCSI-2SE drives, so the best you'll ever find is a "lightly used" device, which will eventually fail. Usually when you think you need it most!

I installed the SCSI2SD v5 in both my K2600RS units, and in hindsight would have probably went with the v6 because the USB connector provides mass storage connectivity, and can emulate up to 7 drives (opposed to the 4 with the v5)

If you're still determined to go the hard drive route, Kurzweil has a nifty knowledge base article on how to use more advanced drives in their K2600 series:

Can a K2600XS use an Ultra320 SCSI HD, like the Seagate Cheetah
10K.7 (ST314607LC) ? Can any other Kurzweil use one? The Kurzweil KB

It's *possible*. The drive can be set to single-ended mode, but you need to come up with an SCA80 female to IDC50 male adapter that also performs high byte termination. This is a 73Gb drive, which will most likely have to be natively partitioned on a separate system, and even then you're only going to access a max of 5 2Gb partitions. The floppy is a separate controller not SCSI attached, so it doesn't get a SCSI ID.

That magic adapter would be the crucial piece. I've seen some SCA68F->IDC50M adapters with high byte termination, but never a direct SCA80F->IDC50M adapter with HBT. I suppose you could get an SCA80->SCA68 adapter and then the SCA68->IDC50 adapter, but this kind gets into Rube Goldberg territory, and even then I haven't considered the mounting clearances.

I actually do wish it were a thing since I have a pile of these drives from my old Sun systems...
